Description The Business Systems Analyst key role involves the ability to analyze and translate business requirements to meet specific project needs. The BSA examines the existing business model, (processes and objectives) working with various levels of end users in the company to create the logical specifications for software/hardware systems that will provide a solution for the needs of moderate to complex clinical/business problems. The Business Systems Analyst performs the research necessary to create functional documents which will ensure that clinical/business application systems can be effectively developed and implemented to meet organizational needs. JOB DUTIES/KNOWLEDGE 1. Communicates effectively with business unit representatives from all levels of the organization regarding process goals and metrics. 2. Develops and maintains a good understanding of the business unit’s primary operations, business environment, business processes, daily operational priorities, and current information technology trends in healthcare. 3. Attends business unit strategic and operational meetings in order to maintain a constant awareness of the business unit’s key operations, strategic priorities, major initiatives, and significant issues. 4. Evaluates and prioritizes IT-based opportunities based on the business unit’s current objectives and strategies to determine potential areas of improvement. 5. Embraces methods, techniques, standards and best practices endorsed by IIBA (International Institute of Business Analysis) such as BABOK (Business Analysis Body of Knowledge). 6. Collaborates with process owners to identify and solve process challenges through analysis of performance metrics and advanced optimization techniques. 7. Utilizes various process design methods and tools to create Business Analyst documents developed in “Plan and Analyze” phase of the SDLC (software development life cycle): 1) Business Requirements and Traceability Matrix 2) Business Process Design 3) Use Cases 4) Use Case Model 5) Project Glossary 6) Business Rules Documentation 7) Conceptual Data Model 8) Data Dictionary and Page Specification. 8. Ensures proper coordination and acceptance of required system changes between IT and business by documenting approval of requirements, participating in user acceptance training and participation in change management process. 9. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS 1. Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Information Systems required or equivalent related work experience. 2. Strong knowledge and experience of business unit operations or Amedisys systems usage within a specific business unit preferred. 3. Six Sigma Green Belt or CBAP certification preferred. 4. Knowledge and experience with the DMAIC framework preferred. 5. Minimum of two (2) years experience in process re-engineering. 6. In-depth experience with process re-design methods and tools. 7. Experience with data analysis. 8. Advanced skills with Microsoft Visio, Simulation (Prototype applications), Microsoft Outlook, Document Management Systems ( Sharepoint, TFS 2010) 9. Ability to independently lead process improvement projects. 10. Strong communication and analytical skills. 11. Ability to easily adapt to rapidly changing environment. 12. Experience in health care business solutions preferred. 13. Ability to work well independently and on a team. 14. Excellent oral and communication skills and be able to develop a positive working relationship with assigned stakeholder. 15. Ability to present information effectively. Clinical Business System Analyst – Qualifications in addition to those listed above. 1. Minimum seven (7) years experience as a Registered Nurse. 2. Home health or Hospice experience preferred. 3. Demonstrates knowledge of Federal/State rules and regulations, accreditation standards, and other regulatory requirements governing home care. 4. Stays abreast of regulatory changes impacting industry. 5. Knowledge of care delivery documentation systems and related medical record documents. |
