Description Under direct supervision works from detailed specifications to develop or modify software systems code. Competent to work on several phases of software programming with instruction and guidance. Codes, tests and documents software packages defined by higher level software developer/analysts and/or a Manager of Software Development. JOB DUTIES/KNOWLEDGE 1. Assists in writing, debugging, diagramming, coding and documenting new programs. 2. Performs maintenance and modifications of programs currently in use to keep them responsive to user needs. 3. Makes recommendations concerning systems and programs which will make applications less complex and more efficient. 4. Assists in systems testing and implementation. 5. Identifies and/or resolves programming problems in order to provide continuous business operations. 6. Answers user questions and resolves user problems. 7. Attends and actively participates in meetings/conferences. 8. Performs other duties as assigned to include work on special projects. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS 1. Must possess a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) plus one year of systems analysis and programming or equivalent related job experience. 2. Technical programming skills or education within a specific development environment or programming language; work experience or education in other programming languages will be considered on a case by case basis; 3. Software development cycle knowledge (design, code, source control, quality assurance, test and deployment); 4. Experience or education in relational database products such as MS SQL Server is required; 5. Excellent oral and written communication skills and an ability to work well within a team and project environment; 6. Background must demonstrate the ability to operate effectively within a complex, dynamic environment. 7. Ability to work under pressure on a number of different projects simultaneously; 8. Commitment to keeping abreast of technology and sharing that knowledge with others; 9. Experience with healthcare information systems is a strong plus. |
